Make spicy, sparkling tea soda pop with SILK ROAD CHAI or HERBAL CHAI tea for a low-calorie, refreshing drink that’s popular with the whole family. Plus you control the sugar, it’s preservative-free and free of artificial flavours! Start by making Tea Flavoured Syrup, then add soda or sparkling mineral water.

Chai Tea Flavoured Syrup

4 tbsp. SILK ROAD CHAI or HERBAL CHAI

2 cups boiling water

1 1/2 cups sugar (white, brown, raw) OR 2 cups honey, maple syrup or agave nectar

Steep tea in boiling water: 5 mins for SILK ROAD CHAI or 10 mins for HERBAL CHAI. Strain into a saucepan. Add sugar (honey, maple syrup or agave nectar) to saucepan & stir over medium heat until completely dissolved and liquid is clear. Pour syrup into stainless steel or heatproof container to let cool completely. To cool, place in refrigerator, cold water or ice bath. Keep a batch refrigerated for a week to make Chai Tea Soda Pop anytime!

Optional: Use 3 tablets (approximately 125 grams) of palm sugar as sweetener. Palm sugar dissolves more slowly than sugar, so it’s recommended to crush each tablet with the back of a wooden spoon while stirring mixture over heat.

Caution: do not overheat sugar or leave unattended as syrup can burn or bubble over.

Chai Tea Soda Pop

1 tbsp. Chai Tea Flavoured Syrup

1 cup soda water or sparkling water

ice

thinly sliced lemons & limes

Fill glass with ice & add Chai Tea Flavoured Syrup. Top with soda or sparkling water. Make by the glass to preserve the bubbles or combine recipe in a pitcher & serve immediately. Garnish with lemons and limes.

Optional: “spice” it up with a splash of dark rum, whisky or bourbon.

Share a cup of history

An exclusive, limited edition tea blend created by Tea Master and owner of SILK ROAD TEA, Daniela Cubelic, ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION TEA is a tribute to the Royal BC Museum exhibition Race to the End of the Earth, on display May 17th – October 14th, 2013. The exhibition recounts the stirring tales of Antarctic exploration, and focuses on the challenges that Norwegian and British leaders faced during the contest to reach the South Pole in the early 1900s.

This robust, invigorating black tea blend is a re-creation of the tea enjoyed by the British Antarctic Expedition in the quest to be the first to reach the South Pole in 1911-1912. Captain Scott requested a strong blend of black tea be created for the expedition, which was intended to fortify the team during the journey, and ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION TEA reproduces this lively, historic combination.

The expedition’s staple daily ration of tea per man was 0.7 ounces (20 g), and provided a much-needed way to uplift and comfort the spirits in the frozen Antarctic.

Look for ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION TEA at the Royal BC Museum exhibit gift shop, Ninety Degrees South. It’s available in mini-tin and 40 cup tin sizes.
